April & May 2020 Bulletin

FROM THE PRESIDENTS’ DESK

Dear fellow print professionals, we hope you are all safe and healthy. We are sailing the same boat and through the same turbulent waters. Our industry has been facing a complete lockdown, much like other businesses across India and around the world. We are also aware that the micro and small printers, especially the commercial printers, are facing an existential crisis. Silver lining to our gloomy cloud is the fact that we are entering the period of restarting the nationwide economic activities. Hopefully, sooner than later, we shall be able to operate at 50-70 per cent of our capacities.

If you are wondering, what are we – BMPA and MMS – doing to support you through these times? Beginning April, we have conducted webinars on various topics for you. This issue of PB shares information about two BMPA webinars. We shall organise more of these webinars to enrich your knowledge and share information that will help you restart your businesses when you deem it fit to rekindle your operations.

BMPA has also started a COVID-19 dedicated helpline. Should you have any queries concerning the pandemic, the new normal, and the new standard operating procedures to take care of the health and safety of your employees as you reopen your business, please write to covid19@bmpa.org.

We both believe that right now is the time for us all, the printers, the packaging converters, the service providers of specialised jobs need to work in collaboration with others. It is vital that we focus on our core strengths, optimise our resources, and share the non-core operations with specialised job operators, so we help ourselves and them at the same time. Focusing on our core competencies will help enhance our operational efficiency, and sharing business will mean shared revenue and hope to stand up together again.
